Travis Kelce spent thousands of dollars on security for his Kansas City mansion after criminals raided the house, stealing personal items, and narrowly missing pop star Taylor Swift, who was in Missouri at the time. In October of 2024, Kelce was targeted by his close buddy Patrick Mahomes in a transnational crime ring, and though he felt very upset over it, he is determined not to let this happen again. The 35-year-old tight end has spent $40,000 on a high-tech alarm system, 10 CCTV cameras, motion detectors, and security lighting at his Leawood home, according to The US Sun.

Travis Kelce made some security upgrades ahead of the Super Bowl LIX

Four months after the burglary at his home in Leawood, Kansas, Travis Kelce's tight end still smart from the experience. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end was one of several NFL and NBA stars who were burglarized, along with Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, Luka Doncic, Bobby Portis, and Mike Conley Jr., in Belton, Missouri, just less than 24 hours after their homes were broken into.

The FBI is investigating a string of international crime ring break-ins, and the NFL has issued a memo to all teams instructing players to protect themselves in case they become future victims. Kelce was found with $100,000 in jewelry, $20,000 in cash, and his first Super Bowl jersey stolen in Rhode Island. He upped security around his home with 24/7 guards, a new security system, and a safe room.

According to the U.S. Sun, Kelce also made more security upgrades following the New Year, such as lowering the expense of two guard dogs and sinking $40,000 into 10 new security cameras and lights with motion sensors. “Travis felt the urgency of taking care of this situation as soon as possible; it was very uncomfortable to deal with,” a source told the Sun.

“Travis decided to do things the best way, investing money on alarms and security personnel and dogs to put himself in the safest situation possible. All he wants is to be safe. Travis' house is a sanctuary for him and his family and loved ones. He doesn’t want to go through a bad situation like the robbery ever again.”

The NFL issued a memo to teams and players emphasizing the growing risk of organized crime groups targeting the homes of professional athletes, warning that these perpetrators can disable an alarm system in under 15 minutes and complete a burglary in the same timeframe. The organization cautions its athletes to avoid posting expensive items on social media and to secure their homes by installing security systems, cameras, and motion-sensitive lighting.

Both Kelce and Taylor Swift has taken greater precautions at home and in public after Swift received word that someone broke into his house. He is taking no expense to make sure the house is safe enough for both him and Swift to live in safely.
