GTA 6 voice cast still under wraps as Roger Craig Smith confirms he’s not involved

The gaming community is buzzing with speculation about the voice actors behind GTA 6's protagonists, Jason and Lucia, after Rockstar Games released a new trailer. Roger Craig Smith, known for voicing Sonic the Hedgehog, has denied involvement, mirroring Troy Baker's earlier denial regarding the role of Jason. Fans are now eyeing Gregory Connors, Manni L.

Rockstar Games earlier this month released a new GTA 6 trailer that introduced players to protagonists Jason and Lucia, fueling renewed speculation on who's behind the voices. With no official casting announcements made, the gaming community has been in full detective mode. Although some big names have been rumored, others, including highly popular voice actor Roger Craig Smith, have publicly denied working on the highly awaited title.

Roger Craig Smith denies GTA 6 involvement

Roger Craig Smith, who is most famously known for playing Sonic the Hedgehog and Ezio Auditore in Assassin's Creed, has indeed confirmed that he is not included in GTA 6. On Twitter, Smith posted, "Nope. Not me. Just to clarify. #GTA6." Although at first unclear, he later doubled the clarification by writing, "LITERALLY attempting to clarify that it is NOT my voice in that trailer. " Although he ruled himself out, he did commend the trailer by saying that it is "amazing.”
This is in line with earlier denials by The Last of Us's Troy Baker, who rejected rumors last year that he was going to voice Jason, the male co-lead. Both denials point to the fact that Rockstar is probably following its precedent of using lesser-known actors for its lead roles, a practice that has served it well previously, most significantly with Red Dead Redemption 2's Arthur Morgan (Roger Clark) and GTA V's Trevor (Steven Ogg).

Fan speculations persist as Rockstar keeps mum

Although Rockstar has not yet officially announced voice actors for Lucia and Jason, the fan community appears to have focused on two somewhat lesser-seen actors: Gregory Connors and Manni L. Perez. These actors have been floating around based on voice similarities and casting rumors, but nothing has been said.Adding fuel to the rumor, however, are some fans speculating that veteran actor Stephen Root, well known for his acting in Office Space and King of the Hill, might be playing an older character heard speaking with Jason in the trailer. Root's voice is quite similar to the cryptic man, but no confirmation has been issued. While anticipation continues to mount in anticipation of GTA 6's targeted 2026 drop, fans continue to string clues together regarding the cast. As major stars cross themselves off the roster, the indications are strong that Rockstar will maintain its formula that has proven successful: allowing the game's characters to speak for themselves, with or without the major-name recognition. Also Read: Grand Theft Auto V hits 215 million units sold amidst GTA VI anticipation
