NHL star Dominik Hasek calls Donald Trump "Traitor" over silence after missile attack on Kyiv

Hockey legend Dominik Hasek is no stranger to pressure but this time, it’s not a puck he's facing down. It’s the politics of war, and he isn’t holding back. Following a brutal missile strike in Kyiv that left nine people dead and over 60 injured, the NHL Hall of Famer unleashed a powerful and emotional post calling out U.S. President Donald Trump and the internet is still buzzing. The tweet came as smoke still lingered over Ukraine’s capital, and it wasn’t just a reaction. It was a full-on accusation.


“Tonight, Russia killed at least 9 people and injured 63 in Ukraine again,” Hasek wrote on X. “And at the same time, the Am. president @realDonaldTrump is unable to condemn these terrible crimes.”
That was just the beginning.
Hasek went on to say Trump refuses to hold Putin accountable, or even demand reparations for the destruction Russia has brought on Ukraine. He didn’t mince words calling Putin “the greatest criminal of our time,” and criticizing Trump for focusing his energy on attacking Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy instead.
“He is criticizing the Ukrainian leader… who is defending his country and does not want to give parts of it, such as Crimea, to criminals,” Hasek wrote. “The American president is a traitor to the democratic world.”

With the war now dragging into its third year, and peace talks feeling more like political theater than real diplomacy, Hasek’s tweet landed like a gut punch. While Trump has pushed for negotiations that could include Ukraine giving up Crimea, something Zelenskyy strongly opposes, Hasek sees that as rewarding aggression, not ending conflict.
And he’s not alone. Many see Trump’s stance as dangerously close to excusing Putin’s invasion, especially as Russia continues to launch attacks on civilian areas.
