WWE star Rey Mysterio, who has been out of action since WrestleMania 41, has come up with a big update for his fans. Mysterio has revealed that he will undergo a major surgery after he sustained an injury on WWE SmackDown, which cost him a spot at the Show of Shows.
At WrestleMania 41, Rey Mysterio was scheduled to face El Grande Americano on the opening night. However, the plan did not come out to be true as Mysterio had to face a major injury.
On the last SmackDown, Mysterio teamed up with Dragon Lee and Rey Fenix on SmackDown in Las Vegas to take on American Made’s Chad Gable – the unmasked El Grande Americano – and The Creeds.
However, during the match, Mysterio took a fall to the outside and never returned to the action. He was later carried backstage by some company officials. This raised concern and alarm among fans, which eventually led to a change in WrestleMania plans.

WWE star Rey Mysterio is supposed to undergo surgery after sustaining a major injury at WWE SmackDown when he teamed up with Dragon Lee and Rey Fenix in Las Vegas.
While reporting on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer confirmed that Mysterio had suffered a torn groin. Although he initially felt he’d be able to wrestle, it seems WWE’s medical team had very different ideas.

Meltzer said, “Yeah, he initially tore his groin. He thought he was going to be able to make the match, and then when they examined him, it was like, you just can’t…”
Meanwhile, Bryan Alvarez went on to break down when Mysterio could have suffered the injury, noting it was a freak accident. “So what happened with Rey is we got the report that he got hurt at SmackDown, and he was helped to the back, so everyone immediately thought it had to be a knee injury.”

He further added, “So I went and watched SmackDown, because I was like, Okay, where did he get hurt? And I could not figure out where the hell he got hurt, and so there was nothing. And so I went back to the last time we saw him do anything, and he had gotten yanked out of the ring by Julius… No one did anything wrong.”
Explaining the situation Alvarez said, “Julius just pulled him and Rey, like, kind of turned, he didn’t want to land on his stomach, and he landed flat on his back, but as soon as he landed, he like, grabbed, like, towards his groin, and they immediately, like, cut to the next thing. And he never got up, and his knees and his feet never touched the ground.”
“So I knew it couldn’t have been his legs, and I figured it was his groin, and that’s what it was,” he lastly added. (Source: H/t to WrestlingNews.Co)
